Test more than one operating point

A chiller can pass a factory test at one operating condition. That does not show how it will perform at the different loads, water temperatures and operating points it will see during the year. Independent FAT verifies the equipment against the specified requirements before it leaves the factory.

If the chiller is specified for 2 MW of cooling at a stated chilled water flow, return water temperature and entering condenser water temperature, we test it.

If it is specified to turn down to 10 percent load, we test that too.

A factory acceptance test is also one of the last opportunities to identify problems while the equipment is still at the manufacturer. After shipment, the same problem can affect commissioning, project schedules and site costs.
